Yun Yugyeong

Based in Busan, South Korea, Yun Yugyeong has been studying Contemporary Art and Archaeology at Dong-A University since 2020. She is a recipient of the National Arts and Sports Vision Scholarship.

Yun's artistic practice is rooted in a humanistic reflection on archaeology, bridging historical inquiry with visual expression. While grounded in the materiality of oil painting, her recent work has developed a distinctive visual language that integrates archaeological concepts, approaching the canvas as an excavation site where layers of time, spatial memory, and material traces are revealed.

More recently, she has turned her attention to observing contemporary society through an archaeological lens. She believes that the remnants of past lives, preserved beneath the earth, offer a profound sense of solace to those navigating the uncertainties of the present. Through this archaeological perspective, her work reflects an ongoing inquiry into how material remains can illuminate ways of enduring, remembering, and finding stability amid the anxieties of contemporary life.
