Analía Martínez' works focus on the act of collecting. Led by her enthusiasm for discovering, reproducing and reshaping objects from collections of various origins, she uses to reflect on the concept of collecting in both private and artistic contexts. Martínez applies various media such as ceramics, painting and papier-mâché objects, creating pieces that serve as components of fictional collections. By combining, repeating and layering these elements, she creates installations that invite the viewer to enter a parallel universe in which these collections exist.
Analía Martínez earned a degree in Fine Arts at the Complutense University in Madrid in 2010 and graduated as a master's student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 2015. In 2017, she participated in an artist residency in Rome organized by the Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in collaboration with the Künstlerhaus Oberbayern. From 2019 to 2021, she was a co-founder and co-curator of Kunstraum XXXVIII. Her works have been exhibited internationally, including at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Mulhouse, at the Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome, at UCM in Madrid as well as at the Goethe-Institut in Mexico and the Art Pavilion in Munich.
