Marjan Baniasadi (b. 1993) is an Iranian artist; she has been living in Germany since 2021. For her, Persian carpets are not simply everyday items but living objects that are capable of recording stories. By incorporating myths, tales, and fantasies from different times, these carpets absorb with each of their woven threads simple and complex narratives about life and death, pain and pleasure, kings and peasants, and describe and convey them.
Each carpet is a witness to its own story, which it then conceals and tells in its unique way. Through the shades, patterns, and textures of the canvases, Marjan Baniasadi tries to combine these different forms of expression. She connects and explores them in order to reflect them again at a particular moment and thus allows the works to become untouchable memories themselves.
