Michaela Meßner
Michaela Meßner, born in Mainz, lives in Munich and works as a literary translator, translating from three languages (French, Spanish, English). In addition to many contemporary authors, she has also translated works by classics such as Alexandre Dumas and Anne and Emily Brontë. In 1992, she was awarded the Raymond Aron Prize. In 2017, she received a working scholarship from the Free State of Bavaria for the translation of Négar Djavadi's Desorientale. During her residency scholarship awarded by the Free State of Bavaria, she worked on the translation of Giuliano da Empoli's Der Magier im Kreml (The Magician in the Kremlin) and drew inspiration for future translation projects from the lively literary scene there. She actively participated in the Québec en toutes lettres literary festival, which took place in October. The 6-part blog report about her stay in Québec can be found here:
