Monique S. Desto

Monique S. Desto studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and graduated in 2021. Desto uses conceptual and experimental approaches to digest the contextual origins of her works, their chosen form as well as their future. They linger in transport crates and on data carriers, expand and wind their way through exhibition spaces, or create their rearguard by being sold. In the process, categories such as painting and drawing, sculpture and installation are intertwined, distorted, and ultimately mixed up with the motivations and compromises behind art production.

Desto is a member of the two artist collectives "Galerie Duglas" and "phantom step" and was awarded the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis in the visual arts category in 2022.
