Simona Koch
Simona Koch focuses her artistic work on visual arts and artistic research. She is deeply interested in the variations of the living – where does life come from, how does it evolve, which subtle networks connect beings with each other and which role does humanity play in this intricate web?
She considers her artistic practice as a tool to explore the world – a highly complex structure of human and non-human relationships – while shifting her anthropocentric perspective on the world. This results in sculptures, animated drawings, complex installations and land art projects that transmit processes or principles. Her works are inspired by philosophical and spiritual concepts as well as scientific hypotheses.
She graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and has received numerous awards and grants, including the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize for Fine Arts (2012). Her works are exhibited in international galleries and she is regularly involved in artistic research projects and international artist residencies.
