Andrea Werner (DE)

Andrea Werner was born in Görlitz in 1978 and grew up in Upper Lusatia. As a teenager, she experienced the emptiness that followed the collapse of the GDR and filled it with her interest in images, music and literature. In the late 1990s, she went to Berlin to study, where she still lives today. The energy and dynamic of the metropolis are evident in her artwork, Humans blend in and find themselves in dialogue with nature. But what is nature today?

Inspired by this quote, Andrea Werner poses the question of her own inner landscape and what it might look like. In daily drawings in her sketchbook and also in oil paintings on canvas, she shares a glimpse of her search, without a clear outcome, definition, or assignment to the familiar.
