Hana Sommerová (1996) lives and works in Prague. She graduated from the painting studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2022). She had a scholarship in the textile studio at UMPRUM in Prague. The main focus of her work is painting, but she also uses the medium of printmaking (linocut) and visual installations in exhibition projects.
Her work focuses on expressing the light atmosphere of places and moments. She is fascinated by the beauty and power of living consciously in the present. In her paintings, she uses the power of expressive colour and the lightness of painterly brush strokes. Her motifs are often open landscapes, interiors and window views. She tries to see, feel and express these close spaces and the moments present in them.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions and residencies. One of the most recent ones is a two-month residency in Reims (FR). She has exhibited at the Parallel Vienna festival (AT). In the Czech Republic she exhibits in the metropolis and in smaller towns on the periphery. For example, at Studio Bubec and Naugallery in Prague, Industragallery in Brno, Zone for Art 8osmička in Humpolec, Regional Gallery of Vysočina in Jihlava. She is the organizer of her own art symposium Artoleč in South Bohemia.
