German photographer, artist and lecturer Olaf Unverzart talks to Jürgen Dehm, director of the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus, about his new book Dahinten geht’s nicht weiter (It doesn't go any further behind).
In the book, published in 2025, Unverzart focuses on the Upper Palatinate border region. Over a period of four years, he photographed architecture, landscapes and village structures in the area east of the A93 - a region that has long fascinated him. The result is a multi-layered series of black and white photographs, mainly taken in analog format with a large-format camera and normal lens, which appear both contemporary and timeless. Their quiet power unfolds particularly against the backdrop of global political tensions - they tell of permanence, change and perception.
With “Dahinten geht's nicht weiter”, Olaf Unverzart presents his twelfth monograph - another impressive commitment to photography in book form. And at the same time a very personal work: a gentle but hopeful look at a region that shapes his origins and his artistic signature.
To kick off the event, Unverzart will read from his publication and show a short film (approx. 15 minutes). Afterwards, Unverzart and Dehm will talk in depth about central themes of the book - including the artist's concept of home and his view of photography as a profession and vocation.
