From February 23 to 27, 2026, students from the class of Sophia Mainka at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich will come together at the Kebbel Villa residence building for a special workshop. This unique location provides an ideal environment for artistic research, reflection and experimental work processes. Drawing on their in-depth analysis of the site's spatial, historical and atmospheric features, the students will then create their own artistic works. To provide initial inspiration and ideas for the development of projects, the workshop will start with a visit to the exhibition, 'melanie bonajo: Echo Organs' at the Kunstpalais Erlangen.
The results of the workshop will be presented to members of the Förderverein Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus (Friends Association of the Kebbel Villa), who own and operate the residence building, at an exclusive event.
The workshop will be led by Sophia Mainka (Academy of Fine Arts, Munich) and Jürgen Dehm (Kebbel Villa). Artist and cultural and religious studies scholar Judith Neunhäuserer will also participate as a guest tutor.
The organizers of the event would like to express their gratitude to the Förderverein Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus, especially the premium member Fronberg Guss, the von Breidbach-Bürresheim family, and Amely Deiss, the director of the Kunstpalais Erlangen, for their generous support.
