As part of the Internationalen Wochen gegen Rassismus (International Weeks against Racism), the Kebbel Villa and the ZWICKL.dokumentarfilmfestival present the film "750 und 12 Jahre - Waldmünchen" by the artist Miriam Visaczki (*1978 in Regensburg, lives in Berlin). The 58-minute film will be followed by an open discussion with Miriam Visaczki, hosted by Anne Schleicher, director of the ZWICKL.dokumentarfilmfestival.
The artist Miriam Visaczki has been investigating the National Socialist history of Germany for some time, including the NS-era of Waldmünchen. The documentary film "750 und 12 Jahre - Waldmünchen" was created in 2006-2008 based on eyewitness accounts and historical documents. Visaczki lives and works in Berlin. She studies Jewish Studies and History at the University of Potsdam and teaches Biblical Hebrew.
On 21 March, she will present "750 und 12 Jahre - Waldmünchen" on the upper floor of the Kebbel Villa and, in conversation with Anne Schleicher, she will be shedding light on her investigation of the National Socialist past of the Upper Palatinate from an artistic, personal, and historical/academic perspective. In the context of the screening, Miriam Visaczki will also show artworks and texts that refer to the work complex "750 and 12 Years - Waldmünchen". These include a work in several parts on the resistance fighter Johannes Evangelist Lechner, who spent several years in prison and the Dachau concentration camp for the distributing of socialist writings.
