Alexi Tsioris
Alexi Tsioris’s artistic practice focuses on the media of drawing, painting, monotype and sculpture. In his work, the artist pursues one idea above all: he layers bodies and figures, thereby multiplying the individuality of the physical form and symbolically turning the human interior outwards. In his paintings, colours and forms are revealed through engravings in the oil layer and complemented by a wealth of ornamentation. The sculptures are created through an additive process that reveals a playful, almost fluid gesture. Tsioris’s monotypes are arguably the most important component of his work; in them, he combines the sculptural with the painterly. This gives rise to a highly distinctive visual language through rapid succession and multi-layered application of paint.
