Sebastian Quast (born in 1997 in Munich; grew up in St. Gallen, Switzerland) is a German-Swiss artist. He lives and works in St. Gallen and Munich and studied under Peter Kogler (AdBK, Munich) and Hans Schabus (dieAngewandte, Vienna).
In his artistic practice, he explores façade, appearance and the capitalist appropriation of authenticity. He works primarily with textiles, which allow for a tactile engagement.
His works often transcend the idea of the autonomous artwork and invite visitors to participate. Quast sees them as stages for encounter and exchange and is actively involved as a co-founder of team ille and as the operator of the art room space n.n. in Munich.
