Annelies Senfter’s oeuvre merges various forms of searching, feeling and intertwining, creating a lyrical union. Her visual focus on seemingly unremarkable signs of temporality - hidden behind the presence of history and memory in everyday life - derives from a distinct photographic approach. This perspective is fundamental to many of her works, even those that don’t directly engage with photography but rather expand upon or derive from the medium. Additional key elements in her creative process include research, archiving and collecting as well as intentionally conducted conversations with experts and casual chats with random individuals. These informal exchanges can often evolve into surprisingly interesting and insightful dialogues. The composition of lyrical thoughts and anecdotes forms a third layer within her ongoing motion of searching and intertwining. Senfter navigates this process with the same care and persistence she applies when approaching people and their traces which she encounters as meaningful moments in everyday life.
