EYES OPEN, BODIES MOVING! – Discovering art with all the senses
Children’s guided tour of the exhibition ‘IN MOTION – The Upper Palatinate Collection with New Acquisitions 2026’
What happens when a locker suddenly tells a story? Can a glass starting block become the starting point for something new? How does a jellyfish made of wire move – and what can lines, threads and traces tell us about art? The children’s guided tour of the exhibition ‘IN MOTION’ is not just about looking. We discover art with our eyes, hands, bodies and imaginations. Together, we’ll explore the works of Stefan Bircheneder, Natalie Brehmer, Renate Haimerl Brosch and Renate Höning. We’ll slip into different roles, try out movements, observe light and shadow, follow lines and invent our own stories.
During the tour, the children get creative themselves: using paper, string and other materials, they’ll complete small investigative tasks to create their own little work of art that brings their movements and encounters in the exhibition to life. A playful journey through the exhibition for curious explorers – to look, move, marvel and get hands-on.
The programme is led by Felicitas Hölzl. Even whilst studying art history, she specialised in art and cultural education. Today, she develops and runs educational programmes in various museums and takes particular pleasure in inspiring children’s enthusiasm for art and history. For the Kebbel Villa, she designs and leads children’s tours that focus on discovery, hands-on activities and shared experiences. It is important to her that every child finds their own way of engaging with art and approaches their visit to the museum with curiosity and enjoyment.
