Christoph Soldan and his wonderful musical colleague, the Heidelberg-born pianist Guido Heinke, have long been united by a shared aesthetic approach to musical performance. Together, they have presented numerous programs for piano four-hands in recent years. This Golden October, they will focus on the two composers whose bodies of work contain the largest number of pieces for this instrumentation: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert. The program opens with the piano version of Maurice Ravel’s orchestral work “Ma mère l’oye”, in the composer’s own arrangement. A small celebration of piano music for four hands—a festival within a festival.
